The first race of the 2016 Xfinity series was worth the wait. The race had few cautions, and was full of intense drafting action. With many lead changes, from 3 wide, to single file racing, the race was worth watching. Rookie Erik Jones, attempted Daytona, but came up unsuccessful, with a mere 31st finish. Brandon Jones, another rookie, had an excellent race, and finished 7th. Daniel Suarez, and Darrell Wallace Jr raced up in the top 5 for most of the race, and finished 8th, and 6th respectively. The winner of the race wasn't decided until the final turn, when Joey Logano attempted to pass Chase Elliott on the high side. Joey Logano got into Chase Elliott's back corner panel, in an attempt to get him loose, but Elliott blocked Logano, and held on to take the checked flag.
