2014 Daytona 500 results

This race was a crazy race.  There was a six hour rain delay, a massive crash on the final turn of the final lap, lead changes...   Danica Patrick was doing well but she managed to get into a crash and finished not were she could have. Most of the rookies crashed in one way or another; Rookie Austin Dillon got loose and caused a multiple car crash twice.  Austin Dillon did get to lead a lap with the number 3, which was the first lap lead by the number 3 in 14 years. The winner could have been decided on the start of the tri-oval, but the leader held off the 2nd place driver for the greatest win in NASCAR.  Here were the final results:

1          Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. managed to get his second Daytona 500 win.  His first Daytona 500 win came 10 years ago. Ironically, Earnhardt won the first race that the number 3 came back to the Sprint Cup.

There is a lot of weird stats behind the #3 and NASCAR, 'irony' I guess. Look it up, its interesting. Like the team Earnhardt drove for, they won a race in their third race after Earnhardts death, they won it by .006 seconds, double earnhardts number. Three years after Earnhardt died, Jr won his first, I forget the rest but there's more its neat.
