The news was a major shock to NASCAR, as this will change the dynamic of the whole series. With SHR and Hendrick not being aligned by manufacturer, but SHR and Penske being aligned, this could really change things. Danica Patrick, Kevin Harvick, and Kurt Busch are all Chevy drivers, so the change to Fords might hurt them greatly. Clint Bowyer is going to SHR in 2017, and he is also a Chevy driver. Even the team owner, Tony Stewart, is a classic Chevy driver. This big change might also weaken Toyota, because Fords will be stronger in the Series.
