NASCAR Issues Multiple Penalites

NASCAR has suspended Martin Truex Jr.'s crew chief Cole Pearn for one race, and docked Truex 15 points, because of a roof flap violation at Atlanta Motor Speedway.  This is the second week in a row Furniture Row Racing has been penalized for roof flap violations.  Pearn was put on probation after the violation at the Daytona 500, and now he must serve a 1 race suspension, pay a $50,000 fine, and he was docked 15 owner points. Other drivers such as AJ Allmendinger, Paul Menard, Austin Dillon, Ryan Newman, and Michael McDowell, were also docked points.  Allmendinger was docked 10 points because his rear wheel panels were not in conformance with NASCAR speculations, and his crew chief was put on probation.  Menard, Dillon, Newman, and McDowell were all penalized 10 points, and their crew chiefs were fined $15,000 for improper body attachment supports and mounts. Furniture Row Racing is currently appealing the suspension under the notion that the roof flap affected car safety, not car performance.
