MWR Penalty

The penalty of MWR was NOT strict enough.  Clint Bowyer spun the car on purpose to cause a caution with 7 laps to go.  By doing this not only did Ryan Newman miss the chase but so did Jeff Gordon.  Clint Bowyer says that it was not on purpose and that Jr. hit, and then spun him.  Jr. may have spun him but Clint Book  kept the car going around. The odds of getting Truex into the chase because of this is very slim but it looks like Bowyer took that chance.  NASCAR shouldn't have punished MWR, because this implies that Micheal Waltrip, Brian Vickers, and/or Truex Jr. are cheaters. Bowyer might have done this on his own so they should have just blamed him.  But NASCAR should have kicked out Bowyer from the chase, or put him in last in points for the chase, as well as kicking out Truex Jr. and putting in Newman.  But instead they just kicked out Truex Jr. and put in Newman.  Also what about Jeff Gordon.  He would have made the chase but because of Bowyer he is kicked out.  Either add Gordon, and have a 13 car chase this season.  Or kick out Logano because he wouldn't have made it.  But then NASCAR would be in a bad position because this wasn't Logano's problem.  He drived well and got into the chase.  Bowyer REALLY put NASCAR in a bad position. They should suspend Bowyer from the Chase and then put in Gordon.

NASCAR actually said there wasn't enough conclusive evidence on Bowyer's part. Actually what MWR got fined for - was the 55 car. Ty Norris told the 55 team to pit in the final laps - because he was ahead of truex on the track and by pitting truex would gain one spot. If he didn't do that Newman would have made the chase. NASCAR decided that was what was bad and penalized them all.

Bowyer might have spun to help out Truex, but all he did was cause a caution. The drivers still had to race after the caution. Waltrips team did not give Newman a bad pit stop. If he didn't have a bad stop he would have likely won the race.
