The race was an excellent kick off to the 2016 camping world truck series. The race was full of intense action. From rookie drivers learning the ropes, to veterans making exciting moves. 3 wide action in straights and even turns, created an even more intense race. There were numerous crashes during the race. The first two were brought out by Tommy Joe Martins who hit the wall hard while exiting turn 4. The new cause ion clock was put into place, which means that there is a mandatory caution every 20 minutes. This kept traffic relatively close together, but this did cause a crash when cars were entering pit road. Cars were racing to enter the pits before th clock expired, and a multi-car crash occurred. Later in the race, a 16 car crash occurred, which was started by Timothy Peters. This caused a 30+ minute red flag, which was lifted with two to go under green. The race resumed with Ryan Truex leading, and Johnny Sauter in 2nd. Ryan Truex took the white flag in the lead, but Johnny Sauter got a run on Truex. Just as Sauter overtook Truex, cars started to crash behind the, including Christopher Bell, who flipped 13 times. A caution came out, which ended the race, giving Sauter the win.
